1864 Born in Dundee

Early cyclist and founder member of the Scottish Cyclists Union and a council member of the CTC.

Founded the Scottish Tyre Co which was later taken over by the Dunlop Company

1909 January. 'Mr John Matthew, of the Dunlop Company, has accepted tho position of managing director of Argyll Motors (Limited), and a strong board of business men has secured. new company will be registered in a few days'[1]
