1876, Dundee: 'SWING BRIDGE, VICTORIA DOCK. At the Works Committee, on the 14th February, there were laid before the meeting offers for the construction of footpath swing bridge across the lock of Victoria Dock, and the same having been opened and examined, the meeting agreed to accept the offer of Messrs John Stewart & Son, Irvine, to construct the same, agreeably to plans and specifications by Harbour Engineer, for the sum of four hundred and ninety pounds, as being the lowest. Approved.'[1]
