1861 Living at Upper Fountain St., Leeds, (age 48 born Hunslet, Leeds), Master Engineer. With wife Grace (age 47 born Wakefield) and children Henrietta (age 24), Maria (age 19), Emila (age 17), Grace (age 15), John age 14 born Hunslet), William (age 12 born Hunslet), Jane (age 9). [1]

1863 October 24th. Patent 2360. William Locke and John Warrington, Coal Owners of Kippax, near Leeds, William Elliot Carrett, William Ebenezer Marshall and John Telford of Leeds for 'improvements in the working and mining of coal minerals and earthy matters, and in the machinery, apparatus, and means to be employed therein'.
