1851 Living at Philadelphia, St. Clements, Norwich: Thomas Towlson (age 44 born Chilwell, Notts.), Machinist. With his wife Ann Towlson (age 44 born Beeston) and their children; John Towlson (age 21 born Beeston), Machinist; Edward Towlson (age 15 born Beeston), Machinist; Robert Towlson (age 11 born Beeston); Joseph Towlson (age 9 born Radford, Notts.); M. A. Towlson (age 6 born St. Clements); Rose Belle Towlson (age 4 born St. Clements); and Alice Towlson (age 1 born St. Clements).[1]

1864 Patent. '2438. To John Towlson, of the parish of Heigham, in the city of Norwich, Engineer, for the invention of "improvements in apparatus for cooling liquids."'[2]
