1947 Died. 'The death has occurred at his home in Edinburgh of Mr John Tulley, B.Sc, A.M.I.C.E., chief of the sanitary engineers' division of the Ministry of Works (Scotland.) Mr Tulley, who was 45 years of age, had been ten years with the Ministry - in London, Bishopton, and Edinburgh. He received his early education at George Heriot's School, Edinburgh. After training with Edinburgh firms of civil engineers, he entered, in 1928, the Burgh Surveyor's department of Clydebank Town Council. Shortly after going to the Ministry of Works in 1937 he became drainage engineer for the ordnance factory at Bishopton. At the conclusion of his work at Bishopton he was appointed to take charge of the sanitary engineers' division of the Ministry in Edinburgh. His father, the late Mr George W. Tulley, was for over 27 years the Senior Sanitary Engineer for Scotland (H.M. Office of Works.) Glasgow and West.'[1]
