John White Footwear Holdings Ltd, Higham Ferrers. (Incorporating John White Footwear Ltd, and John White Impregnable Boots Ltd.) [1]

1919 Company established by John White who had worked at the bench as a craftsman clicker for 20 years. he rented a small workshop for 3/6 per week (17½p). Limited finances meant that he could not afford any machinery and shoes were hand-made by craftsmen shoemakers. Many operations in shoemaking were done by workers in their own homes. [2]
