1911 Mantle makers and costumiers, ladies' tailors, dressmakers and milliners, specialists in Scotch tartans and Shetland hand-knit goods[1]

1929 John Wight and Company Limited, of 86 George Street, Edinburgh, was incorporated as a private company, with capital of £5,000, to carry on the business of costumiers, tailors, and drapers.[2]

1937 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[3] The following year Mr R. A. Smith, the cutter and fitter in the company, announced that he would continue the business on his own account, trading as John Wight and Company[4]
