c1846 Birth of son George Colson

1851 Living at 3 Baring Crescent, Heavitree, Exeter: J. W. Colson (age 54 born Exeter), Merchant. With his wife Emma, nine daughters and sons John Worthy Colson (age 6) and George Colson (age 5).[1]

1867 March. Died. 'Mr. J. W. Colson, who for upwards of 40 years occupied an honourable position as the head of the firm Colson and Spark. His death took place at his residence Baring Crescent, on Tuesday last, and though the deceased had attained the advanced age of 73 years and bad been for two years incapacitated from taking all active part business, his departure was at last somewhat unexpected. We understand that the business will be carried on precisely as heretofore.'[2]
