1900 The company was registered on 17 April, to acquire various letters patent for improvements in electric dynamos, electric motors etc. [1]
1900 April. Prospectus. Share capital £300,000. Directors Leonard W. Holmes; G. B. Hunter; Arthur Laing; Edward H. Johnson; and Henry Webb. 'It is intended to acquire suitable site for the erection works, but in order that the company may commence operations without delay, an arrangement has been entered into with Messrs. J. H. Holmes and Co., Newcastle-on-Tyne, to supply dynamos upon terms favourable to this company. It is intended also to enter into an arrangement with the Sprague Electric Company of New York to supply motors and controllers. licence has been granted to Messrs. J. H. Holmes and Co. to supply dynamos to others besides this company, under a royalty payable to this company.'[2]
