1848 Mentioned in connection with the Liverpool Gaslight Co.[2]

1851 Living at Stag Stones with his wife Elizabeth and is a retired Coach Maker.[3]

1861 Living at Stag Stones, Penrith: Jonathan Varty (age 85 born Penrith), Landed Proprietor. With his wife Elizabeth Varty (age 79 born Liverpool). Five servants.[4]

1864 Died. 'VARTY - August 1, aged 88, Jonathan Varty, Esq., of Stag Stones, Cumberland, and late of this town.'[5]

1865 Death of his widow Elizabeth age 83.[6]
