1785 Married Mary Avery, daughter of John and Ester Avery, in Birmingham[1], niece of Thomas Beach

1787 Birth of daughter, Elizabeth

1789 Birth of son, William

1790 Birth of daughter, Mary Ann

1795 Birth of son, Joseph

1799 Thomas Beach handed over his scale-making business to Joseph Balden

1801 Birth of daughter, Sarah

1804 Birth of son, Samuel

1813 Died; buried in Kings Norton, Saint Nicolas Churchyard; his children were William Balden and Sarah Balden.[2]. Balden died intestate, leaving two young sons. The elder son, failing to keep the business going, conveyed his estate to his cousin and brother-in-law, William Avery.
