Born the son of Josephine Bowker, a Cordwinder and his wife Mary Ann Bowker.

1884 Married at Salford to Thekla Mariah Ross

1887 Birth of son Joseph Maximillian Bowker

1901 Residing at 480 Bury New Road, Broughton: Joseph Bowker (age 55 born Salford), Cotton Spinner (employer). With his wife Theresa Marie Louisa Bowker (age 52 born Salford) and his four children Thekla Josephine Bowker (age 15), Alva Bowker (age 12), Una Bowker (age 9), Rosalind Bowker (age 6). Also his SIL Pauline May Sophia Ross and niece Hilda Lathburg.[1]

1911 April 21st. Died, of Hope House, Kersal, Manchester. 'The death took place on Saturday at his residence at Kersal of Mr. Joseph Bowker, of the firm Messrs. Joseph Bowker and Co. Ltd., cotton spinners, of Oldham. Mr. Bowker was managing director of the Manchester Cotton Association Ltd. On the Manchester Royal Exchange, where he was widely known, he had many friends. He was magistrate for the borough of Oldham.'[2]
