Born the son of George Briggs

1861 Residing at 16 Upper Addison Street, Bowling: George Briggs (age 40 born Bradford), Manager in a Dyehouse. With his wife Hannah and children; Thomas Briggs (age 16), Foundry Pudler; Joseph Briggs (age 14), warehouse boy; Margaret Briggs (age 11); William Briggs (age 6); and George Briggs (age 3).[1]

1879 Married at Birstall to Martha Ellen Law

1911 Residing at Green Bank, Cleckheaton: Joseph Briggs (age 64 born Leeds), Retired Master Dyer. With his wife Martha Ellen and sons Samuel Henry Clifford Biggs (age 30 born Cleckheaton), Worsted Spinner and George Alfred Biggs (age 23 born Cleckheaton), Worsted Spinner. Also four daughters.[2]

1921 Died, of The Oaks, 9 Beech Grove, Harrogate. Probate to Samuel Henry Clifford Biggs and George Alfred Biggs, Worsted Spinners.
