c.1849 Birth of son Harry Cliff

1861 Residing at Park House, Horton: Joseph Cliff (age 44 born Shelf), Iron Founder Master employing 640 men and 40 boys. With his wife Elizabeth (age 45 born Bowling) and son Harry Cliff (age 12 born Bradford).[1]

1867 Listed as a creditor. '... deed bearing date the 15th day of May, 1867, and made between John Eastwood, of Marshalls Mill, in Bradford, in the county of York, Machine Wool Comber, of the first part, of Daniel Williamson McCarthy, of Leeds, in the said county, Oil Merchant, Joseph Cliff, of Bradford aforesaid, Ironfounder, and Daniel Bateman, of Low Moor, near Bradford aforesaid, Cardmaker, of the second part, and the creditors of the said John Eastwood, of the third part...'[2]

1891 Residing at 5 Thornhill Villas, Claverley with Farsley: Joseph Cliff (age 74 born Shelf), Ironfounder and employer. With his niece.[3]

1898 January 05th. Died, of Bradford, ironfounder. Probate to Harry Cliff, engineer, and John Charles Clayton, traveller.

1898 'FUNERAL of AN EMPLOYER — The funeral of the late Mr. Joseph Cliff, of Thornbury, of the firm of Joseph Cliff and Co., ironfounders, took place on Monday, the remains being interred at Undercliffe Cemetery in the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives.'[4]
