Took over the Glove factory at Pilton, Barnstaple from the Sanders Brothers - (John Sanders and Samuel Sanders)

c1832 Born at Worcester the son of Joseph Baylis

1854 June 10th. Married at Hackney to Emma the daughter of William Taylor

c1866 Joined the Pilton glove firm having previously worked for Dent, Allcroft and Co

1881 Living at Bellaire, Pilton, Barnstaple: Joseph Edwin Baylis (age 49 born Worcester), Glove manufacturer employing 17 men, 14 boys and 69 girls. With his wife Emma Baylis (age 49 born watford). One servant.[1]

1890 February 14th. Died at Barnstaple

1890 March 8th. Probate. Of Bellaire House, Pilton, to Edwin Taylor of Watford and John Reavell of Pilton, Glove manufacturer.
