In the office of Mr U. M. Lewellin (William Maberly Llewellin?), civil engineer, for a short time

1874 Two years in the fitting and pattern shops of the foundry of Turnbull, Grant and Jack, Port Dundas, Glasgow.

Evening classes at Glasgow University and the Glasgow Mechanic's Institute.

1876-8 Studied in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineer, University College, London

Drawing office of LSWR, Nine Elms

1878 Proposed for Graduate membership of I Mech E

1879 Transferred to Member I Mech E

1879 In partnership with Mr Frederick George Fuller as consulting engineer

1880 Practicing on his own as consulting engineer.

1881 J. Gurdon L. Stephenson 25, civil engineer, lived in Wandsworth with Annie Blanche Stephenson 27, Jane Blanche Stephenson 1[1]

Involved with a variety of projects including machinery for Highgate ... Water Co, survey of Maplin Sands, plans for various railways and tramways in Britain and abroad.

1911 Joseph Gurton Leycester Stephenson 54, civil engineer, lived in Brentford with Annie Blanche Stephenson 57[2]

1917 Died in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA[3]
