1856 "The estates of Joseph Lomas & Company, machine makers, Duke Street, Glasgow, and of Joseph Lomas, sole Partner of said Company, as such Partner, and as an Individual, were sequestrated on the 25th day of July 1856".[1] According to an advertisement for the sale of the company's plant, stock and patterns, the company had carried on business at its Duke Street premises for upwards of 15 years.[2]
