1913 Obituary [1]

JOSEPH OATES, born on the 15th February, 1875, died at Bournemouth on the 21st May, 1912. Having received his practical training in Cornish mines, he was employed on colliery work by the Barrow Hematite Steel Co.

For five years from 1902 he was occupied on surveying work in South Africa, and at the time of his death he was employed by the Mayzapil Copper Company of Mexico.

Mr. Oates was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 1st March, 1904
