Joseph Perkin

Joseph Perkin (1737-1806)

Baptized on 12 February 1737 in Handsworth, Staffordshire. His father, John Perkin, was a gunlock filer in West Bromwich.

Perkin was trained as a gunsmith in Birmingham.

He emigrated to North America in 1771 and continued his work as a gunsmith.

On his retirement he was the first superintendent of Harpers Ferry Armory.

Joseph Perkin died in 1806.
