Miss Thornton, who is a violinist of no little skill and a golfer with a handicap which many may envy, is to marry Mr. Joseph Sykes Riley, a Batley business man. They met about fifteen months ago at the house of a mutual friend. Mr. Riley, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Joseph Riley, of Swiss House, Batley, is partner in his father’s boiler making firm and chairman of several other companies, Including an interest in the cinema industry.'[2]
