Joshua Butters Bacon (1790-1863) of Perkins, Bacon and Petch

Born at Boston, USA, the son of Josiah Bacon and his wife Dorothy Sterling Arno

1817 Married at Massachusetts to Sarah Ann Perkins, the daughter of Jacob Perkins and they had three daughters and three sons

1835 Patent. Some improvements applicable to locomotive carriages for railways as well as turnpike roads, were patented on the 17th March, 1835, by Butters Bacon, of Sidmouth Street, Regent Square

1836 Patent. 'Joshua Butters Bacon, of Regent's-square, in the county of Middlesex, gentleman, for improvements in the structure and combination of certain apparatus employed in the generation and use of steam'[1]

1859 Death of his wife Sarah Ann.[2]

1861 Living at 44 Mecklenburgh Square, Grays Inn Lane, London: Joshua B. Bacon (age 70 born Boston), Engineer? and Printer employing 116 men and 6 boys - Widower. With his three daughters.[3]
