Joshua Martin
son of Benjamin Martin, scientific instrument maker
1758 Joshua Lover Martin had been formally apprenticed to his father but apparently lacked his father's business acumen.
1778 His father changed the firm's name to trade as Benjamin Martin & Son.
c.1782 Joshua had invented a brass tube drawing engine, manually operated, which was patented but after the failure of the firm, being a bankrupt, he had to flee the UK and went to Naples.
