Born the son of Josiah Greathead Strachan (1776-1880) and his wife ann elison

1836 Married at London to Ann Vickers

1843 Factor at Chamberlain and Strachan, London.[1]

1851 Residing at 84 Basinghall street, London.[2]

1851 Residing at Epsom Road, Ewell: J. G. Strachan (age 38 born Bristol), factor. With his wife Ann and in the house of his MIL.[3]

1870 Residing at Farm Hill Park, Whiteshill, Gloucestershire.[4]

1879 Residing at Farm Hill Park, Pakenhill, Gloucestershire.[5]

1881 Residing at Westfield road, Hastings: Josiah G. Strachan (age 68 born Bristol), J.P., Woollen and Cloth manufacturer (and a widower). Also his sister Catherine G. Rogers (age 65) widow.[6]

1893 November 28th. Died, of Pittville Court, Cheltenham.
