Kardomah

1844 Founded in Liverpool as the tea and coffee dealing business of the Vey Brothers; Kardomah became Britain's first coffee house chain.

1868 Company incorporated as The Liverpool China and India Tea Co[1]

c.1900 Started to market its tea and coffee under the brandname Kardomah

1938 Name changed to Kardomah Ltd

1947 Own and operated 31 cafes in central locations as well as a bakery and the packing establishments in Liverpool. Issue of preference shares.

1954 Formation of new subsidiary: Kardomah (Properties) Ltd to arrange a sale and leaseback of certain properties[2]

1962 Acquired by Forte Holdings; the company operated 32 cafes and 15 coffee houses.[3]
