1924 Company incorporated[1] as Allied Newspapers Ltd

1937 The Berry's partnership in Allied Newspapers Ltd was amicably dissolved, each going there own way. Lord Kemsley continued as chairman.

1941 Provided facilities for Daily News Ltd when their London print room was put out of action[2]

1943 Name changed to Kemsley Newspapers [3]

1945 The Sunday Times had achieved its highest publication rate ever[4]

1946 Controlled 20 newspapers, including many provincial chains[5]

Late 1950s: gradual break-up of Kemsley Newspapers.

1959 Acquired by Roy Thomson[6] including acquisition of the Sunday Times by Thomson in August 1959. Kemsley Newspapers was renamed Thomson Newspapers; the remaining Berry family members retired.

1959 Acquired Scottish Television[7]
