1919 Obituary [1]

KOTARO MORISHIMA, member of the fifth class, of the Imperial Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure, died on the 25th February, 1917, at his residence near Kobe, Japan, after a long illness.

He was born in August 1860 at Kokura and, after taking the electrical engineering course, graduated at the Imperial Japanese College of Engineering in May 1882.

He at once obtained an appointment as an engineer in the Imperial Japanese Telegraph and Telephone Department, and remained in the Department until May 1903, when he resigned his position as Imperial Telegraph and Telephone Engineer.

He then started business as a consulting engineer, and continued in the same work until his death.

He was elected a Foreign Member of the Institution in t888 and a Member in 1911.
