Lightowler Wilkinson

From Graces Guide
(Redirected from L. W. Maiden)

Lightowler Wilkinson (1841-1908) of the GWR

Important Note: An interesting fact about the career of Mr. (Harry Light) Wilkinson's father was that he had to change his name for official purposes, because the general manager of that time was also named Wilkinson - Mr. Joseph Wilkinson (they both worked at Paddington) - although they were not related. Confusion was avoided by Mr. Lightowler Wilkinson adopting the name L. W. Maiden.[1]

Born at Bridgenorth

1861 Lightowler Wilkinson 59, carpenter and joiner master, lived in Stourbridge with Lightowler Wilkinson 19, railway clerk[2]

By 1874 he was employed by the GWR at Reading[4]
