1956 Beaver Holdings Ltd was incorporated

1967 Name changed to Ladbroke Group Ltd

1970 Owned 575 betting shops and planned to build some hotels[1]

1973 Had opened 3 hotels in Britain under the Dragonara brand and more were planned[2]

1976 Bid to acquire Totalisators and Greyhound Holdings[3]

1982 Ladbroke Group plc was re-registered as a public company. The group's activities included turf commission agents, printers, publishers and sports ground proprietors, amusement park operators, hotels and restaurants, etc.

1986 Acquired a 75 percent interest in the Senews chain of local newspapers[4]

1987 Sold the local newspapers to East Midland Allied Press (EMAP).

1988 Acquired Hilton International[5]

By 1989 the retail division of the group operated as Texas Homecare[6]

1999 Name changed to Ladbrokes, one of the 2 divisions of Hilton Group[7]
