Lankester and Son

From Graces Guide

1889 The company of Lankester and Son Limited was registered, with capital of £30,000, to take over and extend the old established business of Lankester and Sons, Southampton, as general ironmongers, founders, engineers, and manufacturers, carried on by various members of the Lankester family from the year 1800. It was intended to expand the operations of the company in three areas: the manufacture and repair of all kinds of steam and other machinery; the adaptation of the powers of electricity in relation to sound, light and force; and the manufacture and erection and heating of all description of horticultural buildings.[1]
