The Cie. de Fives-Lille Engineering Co, of Fives, near Lille, France supplied two steam rail-mounted travelling 'Titan' blocksetting cranes for the construction of the Porto de Leixões, near Porto.

Lifting capacity 50 tonnes at 29m radius, 15 tons at 47m.

The cranes, 'North Titan' and 'South Titan', had a long life, but suffered deterioration in the sea air.

In 2012, the crane on the south side of the port collapsed when an oil pipeline explosion and major fire occurred while the crane was being dismantled. Many parts were saved to construct a replica, in a project costing 2 million euros. Tourists can now visit it. More information here and here.
