Len Vale-Onslow

Leonard Leslie Hubert Vale Onslow (1900-2004) of S. O. S. Motors. Late in life he made a big issue of being the oldest motorist and claimed his birth as 1900. In the 1911 census he was age 8 (born c1903) and in the 1939 poll he states he was born 2nd May 1905.

Born the son of Francis Thomas Onslow, a carpenter

Had six older brothers who ran a garage in Birmingham

1911 Living at 263 George Road, Erdington: Francis Thomas Onslow with his wife Emily, two daughters and five sons including Leslie Hubert Onslow (age 8 born Birmingham).[1]

1933 Married at Birmingham to Elizabeth Edwards

1939 Living at 100 Soho Road, Birmingham, Leonard L. H. Vale-Onslow (born 1905), Motor engineer.[2]

1999 'The legendary bike manufacturer Len Vale Onslow who is 100 in May still takes to the saddle.'[3]
