1886 Married at Fulham to Margaret Ann Woodcock and had five daughters and one son (died as infant)

1943 Died. 'The death has occurred of Mr. Lionel Cresswell, of Hall, near Appleby, Westmorland. When living The Hall. Burley-in-Wharfedale, took deep interest county and local affair#. In 1919 was elected representative for the Ilkley Division the West Riding County Council, and sat for nine years. He was made alderman a barrister the Middle Temple he found particular scope in the work of the Law and Parliamentary Committee, of which he was vice-chairman. He took very active part in many other branches of County Council work, including education and smallholdings...'[1]
