Lionel Sapsford Gidden (1893-1922)

1921/22 Obituary [1]

Lionel Sapsford Gidden was born in 1893.

He received his technical education at the Northampton Institute, and was apprenticed to Phoenix Motors, Ltd. He served in the R.A.S.C. right through the war, and recently commenced in business on his own account as haulage contractor.

The circumstances of his death are particularly tragic, as while loading a heavy crate on to his lorry on July 28th, 1922, the chain sling broke, causing the case to fall on him with fatal results.

He was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1911.
