A standard gauge gravity-worked line for the Liskard and Looe Canal using horses for the uphill run was opened from Moorswater to South Caradon in 1844. It was extended to Cheesewring in 1846. [1]

1860 The company was incorporated. [2]

1862 The company worked the Liskeard and Looe Railway and leased it in 1901.

1923 Became part of the Great Western Railway. [3]
