1889 The company was registered on 20 February, to take over the business of the firm of the same name, silk spinners and manufacturers. [1]

1891 Description of compact engine designed by Lister and Co for working in dusty situations. Two cylinders 8 in. diameter, 10 in. stroke. Piston valves. 200 rpm, or higher if made single-acting. Total weight of the engine 45 cwt. See illustration. [2]

1892 Vertical/horizontal milling machine with swivelling head [3]

1892 Description of Lister's 'Combination lathe'. It was a compact machine, but could swing 40" diameter, and could be used for horizontal boring and milling. 2.5" hole through spindle.[4]

1894 Description of gear-cutting machine[5]

1895 Had several patents pending on designs of light carriage with 3 hp motor[6]

1896 Challenged Pennington, suggesting the firm could apply his motor to their patent driving arrangement to see whether it was better than their own engine, in order to manufacture the best type of carriage.
