Little Basses Lighthouse
Constructed by William Douglass from the designs of his brother James Nicholas Douglass.
"One of the most interesting objects at the Loan Collection at South Kensington is the optical apparatus and lantern of the Little Basses Lighthouse, which is now in course of construction by Mr. William Douglass, C.E., from the designs of his brother, Mr. James N. Douglass, the engineer to the Corporation of the Trinity Rouse, upon the Little Basses rock, which is part of a reef situated about seven miles to the S.S.E. of the island of Ceylon....."
