1928 'Employees of Loake Brothers, Ltd., The Mount Boot Factory, Melbourne, marked the retirement of Mr. Robert Loake by presentation this morning. The firm's romantic history dates back to 1890 when the three brothers, Robert, William and Frederick Loake commenced business on their own account. From the outset, when there were eight persons engaged in the business, it has been a family concern which has grown so strongly that at the present time there are close employees, and the output is nearly 650 dozen pairs of boots and shoes per week. Mr. Robert Loake, who is 66 years of age, has retired after years with the firm, and the managing director now is Mr. Frederick Loake.'[2]
