1930 The original house, known as 'Highlands', and seven acres of land was bought by the University College of the South West, from Mr Tremlett. The main wing, designed with Dutch gables by Dr Vincent Harris was added in 1933.

1933 Hall of residence for women opened by Sir Henry Lopes.[1]
