"LOUIS FREDERIC MOUNTFORT in the course of his career occupied various posts as a municipal engineer and was especially concerned with main drainage operations and sewage disposal. He was educated at King Henry VIII School, Coventry, and served a pupilage under Messrs. Pritchard and Company, Birmingham and Westminster, civil and consulting engineers, from 1895 to 1899, in whose employment he continued as an assistant for a further two years.
From 1901 to 1920 he was assistant civil and electrical engineer to the Birmingham, Tame, and Rea Drainage Board and during this period he was responsible for the design and construction of sewage disposal plant with the provision of all mechanical and electrical appliances as well as for an electric-power transmission scheme six miles in extent. In 1921 he accepted a similar appointment under the Enfield Urban District Council, which he held until 1924 when he became engineer and manager of the sewage works department of the Edmonton Borough Council. Mr. Mountfort, whose death occurred on 3rd May 1950 in his seventy-third year, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1912. He was also an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and Institution of Electrical Engineers. In addition he was a Fellow of the Royal Sanitary Institute, and of the Chemical Society."
