of Paignton, Devon

Yacht, launch and boat builders.

1912 The business was acquired as a going concern by Louis Gale (1879-1951) from the Devon Engineering Co. In his lifetime he was said to have built some 300 boats of all types and sizes.[1]

1925 Gale's daughter Stella entered the business and in 1929 also became the Paignton harbour master, the first woman harbour master in England.

1975 The firm closed when the local council started to redevelop the harbour, though by then it appears to have ceased boatbuilding.
