LOUIS JAMES BERNARD WALL was born in Australia in 1870, and at the age of 26 entered into partnership with Mr. W. J. Splatt at Perth, West Australia, where from a very small beginning they built up a very extensive business. Latterly the firm had been taking an active part in the development of the collieries of the neighbourhood.

His death occurred after an operation on 6th April, 1912.

He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1900.
