1847 Sale notice: 'TO IRON AND BRASS FOUNDERS, IRONMONGERS AND OTHERS. TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, At the LOW MILLS FOUNDRY, near Kendal, in the month of May next, (of which further notice will be given,) — LARGE and VALUABLE STOCK-IN-TRADE, with the MACHINERY and IMPLEMENTS of an IRON FOUNDER: including one large boring and turning Lathe, twenty feet bed ; One Slide ditto, eleven feet bed, with nine pitches; one ditto, nine feet bed, adapted for turning either iron or wood. A large assortment of Ovens, Boilers, Fixtures, Castings, and Patterns of all descriptions; Grates, both Front and Common; also, Iron Pots and Pans in great variety. At the same time WILL BE SOLD, the GOOD-WILL OF THE BUSINESS, as conducted by MESSRS. WINDER, for Seventy Years. Business will be carried on as usual by Messrs. JOSEPH WINDER AND Co., at the Low Foundry, until further notice.'[1]
