André Marcel Desoutter (1894-1952) was an English aviator, who lost a leg in an early flying accident, but went on to a successful career in the aviation industry.
1894 Born one of six children of Louis Albert Desoutter, an immigrant French watchmaker, and Philomène Duret.
1911 Louis Albert Desoutter 53, watchmaker and jeweller, lived in Westminster with Philomine Desoutter 44, assisting in the business, Louis Rene Desoutter (sic) 19, watchmaker, Marcel Andre Desoutter (sic) 17, watchmaker, Leon Charles Desoutter 15, watchmaker, Jeanne Gabrielle Desoutter 13, Louis Adrien Desoutter 10, Emile Robert Desoutter 9[1]
In the years before WWI Marcel was a well-known pilot at Hendon, being particularly associated with the Bleriot school.[2]
1928 Formed Desoutter Aircraft Co
1952 of Horley, Surrey when he died[3]
