1892 The old-established business was converted into a limited liability company of a private nature, Macdonald, Fraser and Company Limited.[1]

1897 A new, public company of the same name was formed to take over the property and assets of the old company, for a purchase price of £210,000, and to carry on the business at Perth, Glasgow, Inverness, Dunfermline and Thornton. The capital of the new company was to be £250,000.[2]
