1984 Finnish company Tikkurila (later Kemira) acquired MacPherson Paints Ltd to access the Western European market.

1986 'MacPherson Paints Ltd is one of the largest manufacturers of quality paint and surface coatings in the United Kingdom'.[1]

Kemira Coatings Ltd (the former MacPherson trade and construction paint business) was sold.

1992 Macpherson Paints Limited, one of Ireland's leading paint companies is a subsidiary of AKZO, the Dutch based international chemicals Group, which has 250 operating units in 50 countries.[2]
