Manfield's Boots of Northampton.

Established in 1844 by Sir Philip Manfield

1905 Partnership change. '...the Partnership lately subsisting between us the undersigned, Harry Manfield, James Manfield, and Charles Louis Braillard, carrying on business as Boot and Shoe Manufacturers and Retailers, at Northampton, and elsewhere in the United Kingdom and abroad, under the style or firm, of "MANFIELD AND SONS," has this day been dissolved by mutual consent, so far as regards the said Charles Louis Braillard, who retires from the firm. All debts due to or owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said Harry Manfield and James Manfield, who will continue the said business under the said style or firm of "Manfield and Sons."...'[1]

1920 Incorporated as a private company

1925 Ellen Louis Pigott-Lawrence (d.1946) appointed chairman. She was eldest daughter of the late James Manfield.[2]

1947 Francis F. V. Manfield, the son of F. E. Manfield, appointed director.[3]

1950 Became a public company with 96 branches and produce 27,000 pairs per week.[4]

1951 Bid for G. and W. Morton who own some 100 shoe shops.[5]

1956 Acquired by Sears Holdings

1969 Francis F. V. Manfield appointed chairman.
