Marconi Radar Systems

1969 As a result of the major reorganisation of AEI and English Electric after the acquisition by GEC, Marconi Radar Systems Ltd was formed from GEC-AEI (Electronics) (Blackbird Road and New Parks, Leicester), Marconi's Radar Division (Chelmsford) and Elliott's Aerospace Control Division.

It was one of 4 subsidiaries of the new GEC-Marconi Electronics[1].

By 1975 Marconi Radar Systems Ltd was a dormant company[2]

1988 Marconi Defence Systems was formed

1992 Marconi Radar and Control Systems was formed with Marconi Radar Systems as a Division rather than a stand-alone business. The Chelmsford manufacturing plant was closed[3]

1994 Marconi Radar Systems left Writtle Road and moved to Eastwood House, built on land formerly part of the New Street site.

1996 GEC-Marconi Radar and Defence Systems was formed

1998 Alenia Marconi Systems was formed

1998 GEC-Marconi Ltd renamed Marconi Electronic Systems Ltd
