MR. MARK JONES was elected a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers on the 4th of December, 1849.

Previous to that date he had, according to the statement of qualifications inserted in the form of application for admission into the Institution, 'after serving a regular period of pupilage as a mechanical engineer, entered the service of the Honourable East India Company, and for sixteen years was the Chief Superintending Engineer of the Government Steam Foundry, Calcutta.'

His death occurred at Oldbury, near Birmingham, early in the year l863, when in the 59th year of his age ; but it has not been possible to obtain any other particulars.
