McDougalls Trust

1933 The Trust was incorporated to acquire all of the shares in McDougalls Ltd, makers of McDougall's Self Raising Flour. Although a public company, only the preference shares were made available to the public, the ordinary shares being held privately[1]

It owned flour mills at Millwall Docks, Andover and Hellingly. The operating company was McDougalls Ltd

1935 Death of James Gladstone McDougall, chairman, he was also chairman and managing director of McDougalls Ltd; he was the eldest son of James Thompson McDougall.

1957 The Trust offered to purchase Hovis; the operating company would be renamed Hovis-McDougall[2]

1962 The new company merged with Ranks Ltd to form Ranks Hovis McDougall, now known as RHM.
