McLean Mill







McLean Mill National Historic Site, near Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
- This steam-driven sawmill has been restored to working condition and may be seen operating. The 12.8 hectare site also includes buildings and artefacts relating to logging, transportation, and camp life. Of particular interest with regard to logging is a working set-up used to demonstrate the handling of massive logs using steam and IC engine-powered 'donkeys'.
- The site is connected to the town of Port Alberni by a preserved steam railway (the Alberni Pacific Railway, with a restored 1929 Baldwin Locomotive Works locomotive. There is also a good road link to the site.
